Saturday Plenary at Arkangelo Conference & Art Center: Exploring Audio Data in Corpus Linguistics

🗓️ Saturday, 21 June 2025
📍 Venue update: Refectory Hall, Arkangelo Conference Centre, Maironio St. 11
🕘 Time: 09:00–10:00

The final day of ICAME 46 began with a refreshing change of setting as participants walked through Vilnius Old Town, passing the stunning St. Anne’s Church, on their way to the Arkangelo Conference Centre. This beautifully restored historic venue provided an atmospheric and elegant backdrop for Saturday’s sessions, in contrast to the previous days held at the Faculty of Philology (Vilnius university).

The plenary session, chaired by Hilde Hasselgård, featured a keynote by Professor Sebastian Hoffmann titled “Audio Data in Corpus Linguistics – Challenges and Opportunities.” Professor Hoffmann explored the growing significance of audio data in linguistic research, addressing both technical challenges and the exciting potential for future developments in the field.

Following the plenary, attendees enjoyed a coffee break before joining one of the three parallel sessions:

  • Semantics/Syntax (Chair: Sylvi Rørvik) – Abbot’s Cell

  • Register & Discourse (Chair: Marc Alexander) – Refectory Hall

  • Learner Language (Chair: Signe Oksefjell Ebeling) – Salon
