Pre-Conference Workshops Spark Insightful Dialogue at ICAME46 — and a Taste of Vilnius Over Lunch

✨ The pre-conference workshops at ICAME 46 are in full swing! Today, participants from across the globe gathered to explore everything from speech acts and genre development to contrastive corpus linguistics.

A standout moment included Karin Aijmer’s fascinating talk on how English and Swedish differ in making requests — a perfect example of how corpora reveal subtle cross-cultural patterns.

☕Conversations continued over lunch and coffee at Grey Restaurant, where the vibrant atmosphere was paired with subtle local promotion. 🥗🍷 Screens and displays showcased highlights of Vilnius, giving participants even more ideas of what to see and do — all while enjoying great food and good company.

By weaving Vilnius into every part of the conference — from break areas to lunch tables — the the conference organizers didn’t just host an event. We offered a genuine cultural experience, spotlighting the creativity, charm, and hospitality of the city itself. 🌆❤️

The afternoon brought even more deep dives, interactive sessions, and plenty of lively exchange.
