🌟 Plenary Session: Prof. Rosa Lorés
Talk Title: Bridging the Gap: From Experts to Audiences in Digital Science Communication
Chair: Anna Ruskan
This morning’s plenary session featured an inspiring talk by Professor Rosa Lorés (Universidad de Zaragoza), who addressed the evolving landscape of digital science communication. Drawing on her expertise in genre analysis, pragmatics, and corpus studies, Prof. Lorés demonstrated how digital platforms are reshaping the way scientific knowledge is constructed, mediated, and shared with wider audiences.
Her presentation examined key dynamics such as multimodality, interactivity, and recontextualization, showing how these elements help bridge the gap between experts and the broader public. A highlight of the session was her introduction of the SciDis Database, a powerful new tool that enables detailed analysis of digital scientific practices across disciplines and media. Using a case study drawn from this resource, she illustrated the practical potential of combining genre-based theory with data-driven methodology.
The session provided thought-provoking insights into how scholars and institutions can foster more accessible, inclusive, and responsive science communication in the digital age.
👏 A warm thank you to Prof. Lorés and session chair Anna Ruskan for a stimulating start to Day 3 at ICAME46!
