ICAME46 Closes with Reflections, Thanks, and a Look Ahead to ICAME47

The final day of ICAME46 concluded on a high note with the ICAME Annual General Meeting, during which key business matters were discussed and board membership elections took place.

This formal closing session also provided an important moment to express heartfelt gratitude. Participants and ICAME Board members took the opportunity to thank Professor Jolanta Šinkūnienė, Chair of the ICAME46 Organising Committee, for her outstanding leadership and dedication in hosting the conference in Vilnius. Her work and that of the organizing team made ICAME46 a memorable and smoothly run event.

To echo the appreciation, here are just a few of the comments shared by participants throughout the week:

“This is an absolutely stunning, show-stopping ICAME. And it's been an absolutely wonderful experience being here in Vilnius. I loved everybody.”
Hanna Schmueck, Augsburg University / University of Glasgow

“I think it's just one of the best conference organisations I have ever experienced. Thank you very much for all the technical work and for the organisational work you have invested. Thank you so much.”
Christian Hoffmann, Augsburg University

“I had a fabulous time and the conference was very well organised. Thank you!”
Marco Wiemann, Christian Albrecht University of Kiel

“It's the best conference I have ever been to. Seriously. So, many thanks to the organisers.”
Daria Bębeniec, Marie Curie-Skłodowska University

"ICAME46 was my first international conference, and I could not have had a better experience. Both the academic and social programme were outstanding, and the atmosphere was very welcoming and inspiring. Apart from meeting leading experts and fellow PhD students in corpus linguistics, I also got to explore Vilnius, a remarkably beautiful city, and experience a taste of Lithuanian culture."

Monique Tschachtli, University of Zurich

These reflections highlight just how much the work of the local organising team was recognised and appreciated by the ICAME community.

As tradition dictates, the closing session also included a presentation of the next ICAME conference venue. Professor Dr. Andreas Weilinghoff, Chair of the ICAME47 Organising Committee, took the floor to unveil plans for ICAME47, which will be held in Koblenz, Germany, from May 26–30, 2026. The presentation was impressive and reflected a remarkable level of preparedness for such an early stage. It’s clear that ICAME47 is already off to a strong and well-organized start.
